Allowance Support Privacy notice

Privacy notice

Last updated 27 July 2026

1. Who we are

Allowance Support is run by [Allowance Support Limited, being formed, company number to follow], of 45 Avenham Road, Preston, PR1 3TH. We are the controller of the information described in this notice. Our registration with the Information Commissioner's Office (the ICO) is [ICO registration number to be confirmed].

Questions about this notice, or anything about your information, go to support@allowancesupport.com. A person reads every message.

2. The short version

  • The free eligibility check runs in your browser. Your answers never reach us.
  • If you buy our complete service, your answers, including health information, are used for one thing only: preparing and checking your application. We ask for your clear permission first.
  • Your information is stored encrypted in the UK (London).
  • Application answers are deleted 30 days after we post your pack, and you can delete everything yourself at any time from your account.
  • Your answers and anything about your health are never sold and never shared with advertisers. No decision about you is made by a machine.

3. The free eligibility check

The check runs entirely in your browser. Your answers stay on your device, and you can clear them at any time. Nothing you answer is sent to us or to anyone else. We do not ask for your name, and we do not need it.

4. If you ask us to email you a link back to your result

You can ask us to email you a link back to your result. For that we keep your email address and whether you ticked the optional tips box, and nothing else. Your answers and your result are not stored by us and are not in the email. We keep the address until you ask us to remove it or unsubscribe, which every email lets you do. The lawful basis is your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time.

5. If you buy our complete service

Your account

We hold your email address and sign-in details. If you choose to sign in with Google, Google tells us your name and email address; we do not see your Google password. The lawful basis is our contract with you.

Payment

Stripe, our payment provider, takes your payment. We never see your card details. We keep the order record: the amount, the order reference, its status and when things happened. The lawful basis is our contract with you, and then the legal duty to keep business records.

Your application answers

The questionnaire asks about health and daily life, because that is what the Attendance Allowance form asks. This is called special category information and the law protects it strongly. We ask for your explicit consent before the questionnaire begins, and we use these answers for one purpose only: preparing and checking the application. If you answer for someone else, you confirm they agree to this. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your data from your account; without the answers we cannot finish the service, and the refund terms then apply as normal.

If you ask for the refusal refund

You send us a copy of the DWP decision letter through your account. We use it only to confirm the decision and pay the refund, and it is deleted with the rest of your application information.

6. Smart help

When you answer a questionnaire question, our smart help checks whether anything that would strengthen the application is missing, and suggests wording built only from what you have told us. To do this, your answer (and related answers where needed) is processed by automated language technology provided by Anthropic, our technology supplier, under a contract that forbids any other use. Anthropic does not use your information to train its technology and deletes it after a short period. Every suggestion is shown to you, and only what you approve goes on the form. No decision about you is made by a machine: you approve every answer, a real person checks every form, and people at DWP decide every application.

7. Who helps us run the service

These companies process information for us, under contracts that only allow them to follow our instructions:

  • Google (Firebase): hosting, sign-in and our database, stored in London.
  • Stripe: payments.
  • Anthropic: the automated language technology behind smart help.
  • Brevo: sending our service emails, such as your order confirmation.
  • Google, Meta and Pinterest: measuring our advertising, and only if you accept cookies. They never receive your answers or anything about your health.

8. Cookies and measurement

When you first visit, we ask whether you accept cookies, with accept and reject given equal weight. If you reject, nothing loads and we do not measure you. If you accept, we use Google Tag Manager to run measurement tools (such as Google Analytics) and advertising measurement (Google, Meta, Pinterest), and we remember which campaign first brought you to us so we can tell which of our adverts work.

Whatever you choose, no cookie or measurement tool ever receives your eligibility answers, your questionnaire answers or anything about your health. There is no measurement of any kind inside the questionnaire. You can change your choice at any time with the Cookies link in the footer, and your choice stays in your browser until you change or clear it.

9. Where your information is stored

Your account, answers and documents are stored encrypted in Google's London region. Some of our suppliers (Stripe, Anthropic, Brevo) may process information outside the UK. Where they do, the transfer is protected by safeguards recognised under UK law, such as the UK's approved contract terms or the UK extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

10. How long we keep things

  • Application answers, uploaded letters and everything about your health: deleted 30 days after we post your pack, or within a week of any refund.
  • Your account: until you delete it, which you can do yourself at any time.
  • Order records (amount, reference, dates, refund outcome): kept 6 years, because tax law requires it. Order records contain nothing about your health.
  • Result-link email addresses: until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove them.

11. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
  • have mistakes corrected
  • have your information deleted, including with the delete option in your account
  • limit or object to how we use it
  • receive a copy in a portable form
  • withdraw any consent you have given, at any time

Email us and we will act within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would welcome the chance to put things right first.

12. Changes to this notice

If we change how we use your information, we update this notice and change the date at the top. For any new use of health information we would ask for your consent again first.

Allowance Support is an independent service. We are not part of DWP or the government. You can apply free at GOV.UK.
